The upsetting thought
It's upsetting. It's upsetting that we live in a world where the things we own sometimes define who we are than our actual personalities. We live in a materialistic era where things are more valuable than the beauty of thoughtfulness or love. Where it is expected that one needs to gift things to another to show that they genuinely care. We no longer live in a time where a real smile means anything. Where a thoughtful gesture is no longer appreciated but expected. We live in a time where so much is taken for granted and we don't even realize. We don't realize that the food we throw away might be a miracle meal for someone across the world. We don't realize that paying more for things we own doesn't make us any different. We don't realize that we should appreciate what we have when instead we are complaining about what we don't own. We were born into this world without any knowledge of things. We were born oblivious to that idea. We found enjoyment in the little things but somehow we've moved passed the obliviousness to the comparison and competition with everyone surrounding us. It's not our fault but our environment. We didn't choose to live in this era; we were just magically created into it. And now all we can do is to think to ourselves about what we believe is important and live happily with the rest.
